My name is Nouhad Melki. I come from a mixed set of backgrounds and interests, all of which inspire my work as a photographer. From Beirut, Lebanon, I was born to an American mother and a Lebanese father. I proudly trace my roots to the Middle East where my family has struggled for generations—from slavery to civil war and persistent adversity. In coming to America, my father and his siblings began an extraordinary immigrant story that inspires my devotion to telling other people’s stories. While I am a writer, photography is my favorite way of telling the stories of people.

I am currently the team photographer for AU Women’s Soccer (AUWS), at Anderson University, in Anderson, Indiana. Now in my fifth year with AUWS, I have contributed my photography to accentuate the story of their sisterhood—their love for each other and the sport they play—and to export that story as the team brand.

I have since branched out to do athletics photography full time, to celebrate the hard work and success of multiple sports programs at Anderson University. Doing so has developed my visual communication skills and led me to pursue a career in athletics photography after university.
